Running trails in and around Røros

Hotel manager Sara Forselius’ top 5 tips for trails in and around Røros.

 

  1. Volarunden. Just as good both in summer and winter, with or without skis. Fantastic uphill training.
  2. Fjellkirka, up to the mountain church. Nice views and perfect for interval training between trail markers.
  3. Mølmannsdalen. Beautiful and magical atmosphere with interesting geological information along the way! Good for both body and mind.
  4. Småsetran. A cozy, old mountain hamlet, where it is likely to encounter cattle in the summer months.
  5. When the weather is miserable in the forests and mountains, you can always walk or run around Røros. You can start from the hotel and continue through residential areas, over the slag heaps down through the picturesque Flanderborg, and town centre to Doktortjønna, to one of the largest inland deserts in Norway, «Kvitsanden», that leads to the golf course only a short distance from where you started back at the hotel.

 

It’s good to have some tarmac under your feet occasionally.
